My Health My Way

Our My Health My Way course supports adults living with long-term physical or mental health conditions to build confidence, manage symptoms and improve their quality of life.

The free NHS-funded My Health, My Way course is open to anyone aged 18 or over who wants practical tools, techniques and peer support to help them manage their health day to day. With more than 17 years’ experience, the programme helps people feel more in control, reduce anxiety, manage pain and fatigue, and make better use of health appointments and support networks.

How the programme can help

  • Improved confidence, wellbeing and symptom management
  • Better coping skills, exercise and relaxation
  • More useful conversations with doctors and other health professionals
  • Reduced pain, fatigue, anxiety, depression and breathlessness
  • Fewer GP visits, outpatient appointments, A&E admissions and hospital admissions

What the course involves

Groups of people living with a range of long-term conditions meet over four weekly sessions, each lasting three and a half hours. The course is delivered at 156 Mannamead Road, Plymouth, PL3 5QL by trained tutors, many of whom have lived experience of long-term conditions.

As well as learning practical self-management techniques, participants can share ideas, meet others with similar experiences and build supportive networks that often continue beyond the course.
